We measure the staircase, check the width at its tightest point and find the socket. Half an hour, no charge, whether you end up buying new or used.
Independent, family run, based in Winchmore Hill. Used stairlifts are a genuinely good buy for a lot of people — and the wrong buy for some, which is the part nobody selling them tends to mention.
Used stairlifts are the corner of this trade where it is easiest to get caught. There is no standard definition of “reconditioned”, the condition is hard to judge from a photograph, and the person selling it is often not the person who will have to come back when it stops.
We are not a manufacturer and we have no targets. If a reconditioned lift does the job, that is what we will quote — even though a new one would be worth more to us. If your stairs curve, or the weight is close to the limit, or you need it to last twenty years, we will tell you that used is the wrong answer.
Every quote is free and carries no obligation. No discount expiring tonight, no manager on the phone, no follow-up calls.

We tell you exactly what comes with the specific lift being quoted. New Acorn lifts carry a 12-month manufacturer guarantee; on a used unit we will say what applies rather than imply it is the same.
The figure covers the lift, the fitting and removing an old one if there is one. No obligation and no expiry date attached to it.
We also repair stairlifts across London, including lifts we did not supply. You are not buying from one firm and chasing another when something goes wrong.
Judging used stairlifts is mostly a matter of knowing the models well enough to tell a sound one from a liability.
Most of what passes through our hands is Acorn — the Acorn 130 straight lift takes up to 127kg, with a heavy-duty version rated to 159kg, and the Acorn 180 curved lift takes up to 120kg. Those are the new figures, and they are the benchmark we judge used stock against.
We also cover Bruno, Handicare, Stannah and Brooks. Knowing several makes is what lets us tell you whether a particular second-hand lift is worth having or whether the parts will be a problem in five years.
We are based in Winchmore Hill and cover Greater London. If your address is not on the list it is still worth calling — we will tell you honestly whether we can get to you.
Every one of these is a verbatim Google review left for Zengo Mobility.
